1948

Founded in 1948 by Reginald Slater. With a lot of back-breaking work, "Pop" quickly developed a reputation for high-quality workmanship. Focusing mostly on road construction but growing to incorporate drainage by the mid-1960s.

1976

In 1976 Reginald’s sons Murray, Alan and Frank inherited the business, steering the company towards the ever expanding industry of sub division works.

1980s to Today

Due to Murray’s ailing health, his sons Ian and Rick began to take the reigns by the mid 1980’s. In 2000, R Slater & Sons was recognised as a Nationally Prequalified Contractor by the Civil Contractors Federation, and our Integrated Management System was implemented. In 2022, Ian retired, selling his stake in the company to his sister Linda and her husband Scott Wilson, long-term employee Ricky and his wife Hailey Spokes and Rick's two sons Adam and Matt. Making it four generations in the family business. R Slater & Sons continue to expand upon the reputation that "Pop" garnered all those years ago, with a dedication to the ever-evolving landscape of the construction industry and a level of customer satisfaction that has kept clients returning for almost 75 years.
